NEW YORK, NY (October 19, 2020) Jackson Lewis P.C., one of the country’s preeminent workplace law firms, is pleased to announce the firm has raised more than $35,000 in support of No Kid Hungry, an initiative working to end childhood hunger and poverty in America. No Kid Hungry works with key educators, community organizations and lawmakers to launch and improve existing programs that feed hungry children. The firm chose a virtual 5K format to foster inclusion efforts in its work environment, as most of its workforce is still remote due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Jackson Lewis is always looking for ways to give back to our communities through our time, efforts and resources,” said Firm Chair Kevin G. Lauri. “We were drawn to No Kid Hungry due to their impressive and very necessary platform and because, similar to Jackson Lewis, they marry the resources and vision of a national organization with the impact and presence of local entities. Through this virtual 5K, even though we were apart, Jackson Lewis attorneys and staff worked as a team to help support No Kid Hungry in their mission to end childhood hunger in America.”
“Food insecurity, especially for children, has soared during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Cincinnati Principal and Office Litigation Manager Patricia Anderson Pryor. “I wanted Jackson Lewis to directly take part in giving back to those who need us most. By launching the virtual 5K, we were able to raise awareness of this alarming side effect of the pandemic, and safely bring our firm together at the same time.”
Led by Jana Simon, the firm’s Director of Diversity & Inclusion and Lara Hamm, the firm’s Director of Communications and Public Relations, the firm raised more than $35,000, which doubled its original goal.
“It was inspiring to see photo after photo of our attorneys and staff running, walking, biking and wheeling their way to their finish lines,” said Jana and Lara. “We were proud to be involved in this effort to foster connection while supporting an extremely worthy cause.”
