Jackson Lewis Expands Its Los Angeles Team

LOS ANGELES (February 13, 2008) - Jackson Lewis LLP, one of the country's largest workplace law firms, announced today it has hired San Diego attorneys Paul F. Sorrentino as partner and Jennifer L. Denkins as an associate. Mr. Sorrentino and Ms. Denkins will both be associated with the firm's Los Angeles office, but will remain in San Diego in an effort to better serve the firm's rapidly growing southwestern client base.

"Both Paul and Jennifer have wide-ranging experience defending employers against legal claims," said Lawrence Stone, managing partner of the firm's Los Angeles office. "Their proficiency is in high demand in California and the southwestern United States making them an asset to Jackson Lewis."

Mr. Sorrentino will represent employers in state and federal litigation, including class action defense. He specializes in employment law defense including wrongful termination, discrimination and harassment claims, wage and hour matters and related claims, handling all matters of employment disputes, including federal and state administrative charges, National Labor Review Board hearings, labor commissioner hearings and civil jury trials. Mr. Sorrentino also provides counseling to clients on day-to-day workplace matters, including advice on disciplinary issues, hiring and firing, leave laws, policy drafting and handbooks.

Prior to joining Jackson Lewis, Mr. Sorrentino practiced with the San Diego firm Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith LLP, where he was member of the firm's Hospitality Group. He has extensive experience representing the hospitality industry, including a client list that includes Four Seasons Hotels, Hualalai Resort, and Raffles Hotels. He has successfully litigated matters throughout the state of California, Florida, Missouri, Texas, Washington, Hawaii and Nevada.

Mr. Sorrentino is a member of the San Diego County and American Bar Associations, the State Bar of California, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, San Diego Trial Lawyers Association, and the Federal Bar Association. He is admitted to the California State Bar, the United States District Court for the Southern District, the Central District and Northern District of California, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas, and the United States Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit and the 11th Circuit. Mr. Sorrentino received his J.D. from California Western School of Law and his A.B. from Brandeis University.

Ms. Denkins's practice will center on employment litigation, which will include defending employers in a variety of legal claims, including wrongful termination, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour claims, breach of contract, and employee classification issues. Ms. Denkins will also counsel employers on issues of hiring, promotion, discipline, termination, and overtime compensation. Prior to joining Jackson Lewis, Ms. Denkins also practiced with the San Diego firm Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith LLP.

Ms. Denkins is a member of the San Diego County Bar Association. She is admitted to the State Bar of California, the United States District Court for the Central District, and the United States District Court for the Southern District. Ms. Denkins received her J.D. from California Western School of Law (2002) and her B.A. from Michigan State University (2000) where she graduated with honors.
