Jackson Lewis Expands in Detroit

DETROIT, MI (August 3, 2009) — Jackson Lewis LLP - one of the nation’s largest and fastest growing employment law firms - announced that five attorneys have joined its Detroit office.  Each was formerly with the Detroit law firm of Rubin Shulman PLC, two of whom were principal partners in that firm.

Allan S. Rubin has joined Jackson Lewis as a Partner; Lawrence B. Shulman will act as Of Counsel; and Christina A. Daskas, Neil B. Pioch and John C. Signorino have joined as Associates. Jackson Lewis LLP now has 10 attorneys in its Detroit office, which opened with just two attorneys in February 2008.

Maurice G. Jenkins, Managing Partner of the Detroit office, says the current economic climate in Detroit has created a greater demand for employment law firms because so many companies are faced with a growing number of employment issues such as class and collective actions, layoffs, benefits and compensation, as well as an increasingly complex and stringent regulatory environment that includes workplace laws providing for criminal penalties.

“Allan has great FLSA collective action and other cutting edge employment litigation experience.  Having expert employment law counsel, along with an affiliation with a savvy criminal law expert such as Larry, is essential to keeping up with new and emerging legislation that affect businesses and their employees,” adds Jenkins.  “We will continue to review opportunities to add professionals who can leverage the resources of Jackson Lewis to provide comprehensive and effective solutions for employers doing business in the United States and abroad.”
