Jackson Lewis Attorney Receives Two Prestigious Client Service Awards

NEW YORK, NY (February 27, 2013) – Jackson Lewis LLP, one of the country’s largest and fastest-growing workplace law firms, is pleased to announce that New York City Partner Felice B. Ekelman has been named the recipient of “2013 Client Choice Awards” in both US Employment and Labour and Employment and Labor, New York.  Ms. Ekelman was recognized for receiving these honors at a reception in London hosted by the International Law Office (ILO) and Lexology.

Established in 2005, the Client Choice Awards recognize partners around the world who stand apart for their excellent client service.  As part of the awards process, corporate counsel are asked to rate individual lawyers and law firms on the following client service criteria: quality of legal advice, value for money, commercial awareness, effective communication, billing transparency, tailored fee structures, response time, sharing of expertise and use of technology.

Ms. Ekelman was one of over 300 international award recipients from 70 jurisdictions.  In addition to receiving the US Employment and Labour Award, she was recognized in the “United States and Canada” category as the Employment and Labor, New York Award recipient.

According to the research conducted by the International Law Office (ILO) and Lexology in connection with the Client Choice Awards, Ms. Ekelman’s clients praised her “impeccable judgment,” “above-reproach character and ability to engender trust,” and ability to provide “counsel of the highest caliber.”  The responses also indicated a client’s “complete faith in direction that [Felice] gives.”

Firm Chairman Vincent A. Cino said, “It is no surprise to see Felice recognized for her exceptional dedication to client service.   Devotion to clients and their needs is a value we try to instill in all of our attorneys, and we could not be more proud to see Felice honored with this designation.”

Ms. Ekelman has decades of experience counseling clients in a wide range of employment matters.  She is an experienced litigator specializing in class and collective action wage and hour matters.  She has represented a multitude of clients in litigations involving misclassification issues, off-the-clock work, and donning and doffing claims.

Ms. Ekelman’s employment litigation experience includes jury and bench trials and appellate arguments before state and federal courts. In addition, Ms. Ekelman has represented employers in hundreds of employment and labor arbitrations involving commission and compensation disputes, enforcement of restrictive covenants, collective bargaining contract interpretation issues, and termination disputes.  She also regularly represents employers before the federal and New York State administrative agencies.

Ms. Ekelman’s traditional labor law experience includes representation of both unionized and union-free employers. For clients with bargaining relationships, she represents clients in collective bargaining agreement negotiations.  She also represents clients in arbitrations, litigation involving Taft Hartley fund disputes, and litigation under the Labor Management Relations Act.

Ms. Ekelman received her undergraduate degree from the Johns Hopkins University and her J.D. from Albany Law School.  She has been listed in New York Super Lawyers from 2009 to 2012 and has a Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Rating of AV® Preeminent™.  She is a member of the New York Bar and is admitted to practice in numerous district courts across the country, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second and Third Circuits.
