Jackson Lewis Announces Experienced Attorney Joins Atlanta Office

NEW YORK CITY, Aug. 24, 2006 -- Jackson Lewis LLP announces the addition of an experienced labor and employment litigation attorney to its Atlanta office.

Jake Schwartz was most recently the managing shareholder and lead attorney in labor and commercial litigation matters for the New Orleans firm Watkins, Ludlam, Winter & Stennis.  He will bring to Jackson Lewis leadership qualities and extensive experience in workplace law.

He has successfully represented numerous clients with respect to a variety of labor law issues and cases, many of which involved unfair trade practices, non-compete and non-solicitation agreements.  He also has counseled employers with respect to traditional  labor matters such as union elections and collective bargaining and preventive labor and litigation matters.

Mr. Schwartz has argued before the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and has first-chaired more than a dozen jury trials.

"An attorney with Jake's depth of professional experience and positive results is not often available.  We are delighted he elected to join us after he and his family moved to Atlanta.  His arrival will expand in a meaningful way the resources and expertise we can offer our clients and will strengthen our steadily growing practice here in Atlanta," said Jeffrey M. Mintz, managing partner of the firm's Atlanta office.

Founded in 1958, Jackson Lewis has evolved from a small, traditional labor firm to a nationwide leader and pacesetter in workplace law, with 385 attorneys in 25 offices from Miami to Seattle.

Jackson Lewis consistently receives outstanding recognition by peers and clients alike.  The firm was named as one of the top twenty "Go To" firms in a recent survey of Fortune 250 companies conducted by American Lawyer Media's Corporate Counsel magazine.  Many of the firm's lawyers have been named "Super Lawyers" by their peers in polls taken by Law & Politics, a company that conducts impartial surveys.  The firm was also named a top tier labor and employment law firm in the 2006 edition of Chambers USA, an international guide to America's business lawyers published by the London-based Chambers and Partners.  And, most recently, nine of the firm's labor attorneys were honored in the Top 100 Labor Attorneys in the United States, as determined by the Labor Relations Institute.

Mr. Schwartz received his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law where he was a winner of the Murray S. Love Trial Moot Court Competition. He has received an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating available to an individual lawyer. He is a member of the Louisiana bar and a member of the U.S. Supreme Court bar.
