Jackson Lewis Adds New Partner to Chicago Team

NEW YORK, NY, (January 14, 2008) - Jackson Lewis LLP, one of the country's largest and fastest growing workplace law firms, announced today it had hired Indianapolis attorney Michael W. Padgett. Padgett, who will be a partner in the Firm's Chicago office, will remain in Indianapolis and will work with the Chicago office in an effort to better serve the Firm's rapidly growing Midwestern client base.

Mr. Padgett will represent employers in various forms of employment-related litigation, including claims under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1963, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, breach of employment contract claims, and wage claims, as well as advise clients as to all aspects of compliance with federal and state employment laws. Mr. Padgett will also devote his time to traditional labor law, including representing employers in unfair labor practice and representation proceedings, advising clients in collective bargaining agreement negotiations, directing union avoidance campaigns, and representing employers in grievance arbitration proceedings.

Prior to joining Jackson Lewis, Mr. Padgett was a partner with the Indianapolis firm Bingham McHale LLP. Prior to that, he was Chief Counsel with both the Indiana Department of Labor and the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.

Mr. Padgett is a member of the Indianapolis Bar Association and is admitted to practice in Indiana, U.S. District Court in Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana, U.S. District Court in Northern District of Oklahoma, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He is an active member of the community by participating in several local community organizations and programs, including the Catholic Charities of Indianapolis, Indianapolis Bar Association's Hospice Legal Program, Marion Superior Court Pro Bono Program, and Catholic Youth Organization.

Mr. Padgett received his J.D. from Indiana University School of Law (1991) where he graduated cum laude. He received his B.S. from Purdue University (1984).
