TAMPA, FL (July 13, 2021) Nationwide employment law firm Jackson Lewis P.C. is pleased to announce Phillip J. Harris has joined the firm’s Tampa office as a principal. Phillip joins the firm from Constangy, Brooks, Smith & Prophete, LLP, where he focused his practice on employment litigation.
“Phillip is an extremely talented litigator who brings a unique understanding of the most pressing employment risks facing companies today,” said Tampa Office Managing Principal and Litigation Manager Laura E. Prather. “We are thrilled he decided to join the team as we strategically grow our Tampa office.”
Phillip counsels and represents employers in a wide variety of labor and employment matters, including employee hiring, separation, severance, discipline, terminations, demotions, reductions in force, sexual harassment avoidance and various internal employee investigations. He has first-chair trial experience and has appeared before the U.S. Supreme Court. Additionally, Phillip has secured dismissals for employers in both federal and state courts, as well as with the Department of Labor, the EEOC, and the Florida Commission on Human Relations.
Phillip also works with employers in drafting settlement packages, agreements, general releases, employee policies and employee handbooks. He frequently defends employers in discrimination, harassment, wage and hour, whistle-blower, retaliation, employment/business torts and wrongful termination litigation in both state and federal courts and before the Department of Labor, the EEOC, and state and local human rights commissions. Phillip represents employers from many industries including banking and finance, automotive, manufacturing, healthcare, housing, electrical, insurance, retail, restaurant and not-for-profit organizations.
