Jackson Lewis Adds Attorney in Boston

BOSTON, MA (November 26, 2012) - Jackson Lewis LLP, one of the country’s largest and fastest-growing workplace law firms, is pleased to announce John J. Commisso has joined the firm’s Boston office as Of Counsel.  Mr. Commisso joins Jackson Lewis from LibbyHoopes (formerly known as Kelly, Libby & Hoopes, P.C.), where he worked with Partner Paul V. Kelly, a recent addition to Jackson Lewis’ Boston office.  

Mr. Commisso has vast experience representing clients in a broad range of government investigations, internal corporate investigations, criminal proceedings, and civil litigation in state and federal courts.  He has advised clients in connection with enforcement actions and investigations initiated by state and federal agencies, including the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office.  Additionally, Mr. Commisso has represented numerous clients in complex civil litigation.  He has experience in matters involving misappropriation of trade secrets, the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, complex business disputes among partners in the real estate development business, and disputes among owners of closely held corporations.

Prior to joining LibbyHoopes, Mr. Commisso served as a Law Clerk to United States District Judge George A. O’Toole, Jr., of the District of Massachusetts, and as a Litigation Associate at Goodwin Procter LLP.  

Mr. Commisso is a member of the Boston Bar Association and sits on the Steering Committee of the Criminal Law Section.  He is admitted to practice law in the state of Massachusetts, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and the U.S. District Court of Massachusetts. Mr. Commisso has been recognized in the area of white collar criminal defense in the Rising Stars edition of Super Lawyers since 2006. 

Mr. Commisso earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, magna cum laude, where he was on the editorial staff of The Georgetown Law Journal.  Prior to studying law, he received a degree in Accounting from Boston College and worked in the Audit and Business Advisory Services Department at a Big Six accounting firm in Boston.  Mr. Commisso was also previously licensed to practice as a Certified Public Accountant.
