On July 1, 2019, Minnesota’s new Wage Theft Legislation went into effect, surprising Minnesota employers with detailed new employee notice and recordkeeping requirements. This session provides a practical refresher and “lessons learned” in the last several months to help ensure your organization is on track for compliance in the next year. There is more to come. Effective January 1, 2020, Minneapolis’s Wage Theft Ordinance will impose additional requirements regarding information that must be provided on employee notices, earnings statements, and a poster requirement, among other things. This new ordinance may apply to your organization even if you do not have a physical location in the City, because it covers any employees who work in Minneapolis at least 80 hours a year.
