COVID-19 and its economic fallout continue to confront employers with unprecedented challenges in managing workforce safety issues, as well as reducing payroll costs as economic shutdowns take hold. In this webinar, attorneys from Australia, China, India, Japan, Singapore, South Korea and the US will discuss and field questions concerning the issues particular to Asia Pacific jurisdictions, such as:
- Measures an employer can take to address COVID-19 shutdowns or COVID-19 driven decline in business including, temporary layoffs, suspension of contract, required use of current or accrued annual leave, salary reduction with or without reducing work hours, redundancy, any other measures;
- Local programs to assist employers and employees impacted by COVID-19 loss of business/employment;
- Employer’s obligation to maintain a safe workplace and permissible measures such as temperature screening; and
- Protections for employees who must self-quarantine, care for children impacted by school closures, or who decline to work for fear of infection in the workplace.
